about me

I was born and raised in South East Kent, and after a few stints living in Cardiff and London have settled back in Folkestone - I think if you grew up by the sea, you can never really leave it!

I’m a warm, friendly and inquisitive person by nature, and people say one of my greatest strengths is the positive energy I bring. Someone once described me as the character “Joy” from Inside Out which is one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received.

I ‘m training to be a celebrant with Humanists UK because humanism aligns perfectly with my values. I believe passionately in everyone’s right to live the life they want to lead, the importance of treating others with warmth and compassion, and making the most of our “one wild and precious life” (Mary Oliver).

My career prior to celebrancy was in local government, I’m trained in public relations and communications, have spent a lot of time in children’s social care policy, and I’ve done lots of volunteering too - mostly with young people, but also at the Science Museum and with rescued monkeys!

When I’m not working, you’ll generally find me with my head in a book, swing dancing, pub quizzing or “supporting local businesses” (spending time in Folkestone’s excellent cafes and bars).
